Mandatory Registered Lobbyist Training

As part of changes to the Integrity Act 2009, it is now a condition of registration that all Queensland registered lobbyists undertake approved training. The Office of the Queensland Integrity Commissioner is rolling out this training in May 2025. The training will be delivered annually ongoing, and the Integrity Commissioner will require all registered lobbyists to successfully complete this training to maintain their registration.

Training options

There are several training options offered:

  • In-person -Brisbane City:
    • Tuesday, 20 May 2025 9am - 12pm
    • Monday, 26 May 2025 1pm - 4pm
  • On-line
    • Thursday, 22 May 2025 1pm - 4pm
    • Wednesday 28 May 2025 9am - 12pm

It will consist of interactive, practical sessions with competency assessments to confirm learning.

Refreshments will be provided at the in-person events.

IMPORTANT: Participation in this training is mandatory for all current registered lobbyists.

Partial attendance will require rescheduling for a future session.

Topics covered

The training will encompass:

  • Purpose of regulating lobbying, overarching transparency and integrity.
  • Understanding and adhering to the Lobbyists' Code of Conduct.
  • Registration application for new registered lobbyist with an entity.
  • Compliance and annual returns obligations.
  • Regulatory power of the Integrity Commissioner (including non-compliance and sanctions).
  • Effective use of the Queensland Lobbying Register (QLR).
  • Navigating the QLR portal for registered lobbyists to update their recorded particulars and lobbying activities.

Who Should Attend

  • This training is for Queensland registered lobbyists only. All registered lobbyists must attend the training.
  • Anyone within a registered lobbying entity that has lobbying management and compliance responsibility.
