The Queensland Government is committed to providing access to information held or controlled by the government. The Right to Information Act (RTI Act) affords people a right to access government information unless it is contrary to the public interest.

How to access information

Before making a Right to Information (RTI) or Information Privacy (IP) access application, contact us to see if the information can be made available. You can also check to see if the information is already available on this website through our publication scheme or disclosure log.

If you need to make a formal access application, you can seek access using the Right to Information Access Application Form or submit a request in writing, and send to:

Your request must:

  • be made in writing
  • accompanied by an application fee, if applicable
  • accompanied by sufficient evidence of identity or authority, if applicable
  • contain sufficient information about the documents.

If you are applying to amend personal information, then you must also provide:

  • evidence that you have previously accessed the information
  • describe the information’s deficiencies.

Exempt information

Due to confidentiality provisions outlined in section 24 of the Integrity Act 2009 (Integrity Act), OQIC is prohibited from releasing any information disclosed, obtained, or made in relation to a matter under Chapter 3 of the Integrity Act 2009 regarding a request for advice about an ethics or integrity issue. This information meets the definition of exempt information under the RTI Act and cannot be released by OQIC.
