Biography
Gary William Crooke Q.C.
Appointment duration: July 2004 - June 2009
Gary started his initial three year appointment as Queensland Integrity Commissioner on the 1st July 2004. His appointment was extended for a further two years, and expired on 30th June 2009.
Gary began his education at Pulteney Grammar School Adelaide, and went on to graduate from a Bachelor of Arts in 1963 and a Bachelor of Law in 1966 at the University of Queensland. He began practising as a barrister in 1966 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel (QC) in 1982.
During his career he has worked on a number of high profile matters including as:
- Senior Counsel Assisting the Queensland Fitzgerald Inquiry 1987-89
- Senior Counsel Assisting New South Wales Royal Commission into Police Corruption 1994-97.
He has also held the following appointments:
- Chairman National Crime Authority 1999-2002
- Co-Chair Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering 1999-2002.
Gary was also the President of the Queensland Bar Association 1989-90, the President of the Australian Bar Association 1990-91 and has been a Life Member of the Queensland Bar Association since 1993.

Alan took up his three-year appointment as Queensland's first Integrity Commissioner on 24 August 2000, after 22 years as a judge in the Supreme Court of Queensland. This appointment was extended to 30 June 2004.
Alan was born in Caboolture and now lives in central Queensland at Rockhampton with his wife, Dorothy.
After reading law at the University of Queensland he began practising as a barrister in 1958 and continued until 1972, when he was appointed as a District Court Judge. During his time as a barrister a significant part of his practice involved Crown work, including constitutional matters. He also found time to edit, or report for, various Queensland law journals.
In 1976 Alan moved to the federal arena and became a Family Court Judge. Two years later he was appointed a Justice of the Queensland Supreme Court and a Central Judge based in Rockhampton.
While a judge he was invited to chair various committees and inquiries. In the mid-seventies he chaired the Commission of Inquiry into the Status of Women. He also chaired the Special Committee appointed to consider In Vitro Fertilization and Related Matters.
Alan is a patron of Blue Care Rockhampton, the Rockhampton Branch of the Endeavour Foundation and the Rockhampton Chamber Music Society. He is also an elder and lay preacher of the Uniting Church.
Alan was made an Officer of the General Division of the Order of Australia in June 2000 and was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Laws from the Central Queensland University in September 2000.
